Weight Loss
Most people know what they should be doing to lose weight, but there are barriers which stop them doing that. It might be exhaustion, stress or lack of time to buy and prepare healthy food. Together we uncover what these challenges are and find strategies to work around them. A huge part of the success for my clients has been my two-week meal plans with simple recipes. Having these plans removes the mental load of thinking about what to cook as well as the confusion about what constitutes a healthy meal.
Maintaining a healthy weight can be achieved with many different styles of eating – including keto, vegetarian, pescetarian, or through eating regular wholefoods. I am happy to support whichever philosophy works well for a client but there are a few food ‘rules’ which need to be in place for ongoing success.
Food Rules for Success
- Eat enough healthy fats and protein. This is like adding a log to your metabolic fire; these macros keep you fuller for longer and your brain and body firing.
- Reduce sugar - it drives ageing, cancer, stress, heart disease and just about everything else. We talk through hacks to reduce blood sugar spikes.
- Have on-the-go foods ready for busy days - this might be boiled eggs, cooked sweet potato or quinoa, healthy homemade muffins (which you can make and freeze), tinned fish or liver pate depending on your food preferences.
- Avoid seed-oils - they contribute to weight gain and disrupt your microbiome.
- There are no such things as ‘slip ups.’ If you eat something outside your plan, I hope you enjoyed it, you are human. Just get right back to your healthy options the next day. The biggest disrupter to long-term weight loss is continuing to eat badly because you ‘messed up’ with one bad meal/indulgent weekend.
